At Gogsig, we collaborate with authorized physiotherapists because our feet deserve the best conditions to grow and develop naturally. The physiotherapists bring important knowledge about motor skills, balance and foot position into the development of our shoes.
Their professional insight helps us create shoes that both support children's health and provide freedom for play, movement and comfort - without compromising on quality and design.
We would like to introduce you to Troels, who has helped us over the past year to provide important knowledge on our social media for you parents, so that you can write and ask with peace of mind if you have any questions.
Troels, would you like to tell us a little about yourself...
After several years as a licensed physiotherapist specializing in ankle problems, I have met countless clients in the clinic. This has given me solid insight into the many benefits that training and wearing barefoot shoes can have.
I took the step myself more than 15 years ago and switched to barefoot shoes – a choice I have stuck to ever since, both at work, for hiking and in everyday life. For a while, I even sold barefoot shoes myself, as I experienced how much of a difference they could make, and that way I could more easily refer my clients to the right footwear.
Barefoot shoes offer significant benefits: we continuously strengthen our feet as we move, instead of letting them be passively stabilized by traditional shoes, which over time can create unnecessary stress and limitations for our feet and toes. When I wear barefoot shoes, my feet are constantly sensory stimulated by the surface, and the muscles and tendons are constantly having to adapt – this makes them stronger, improves balance and strengthens the entire proprioceptive system. Strong feet benefit not only the feet themselves, but the entire body.
That's why I'm a big advocate of barefoot shoes for children. The first years of life are crucial for a child's motor development, and why not give their feet the best possible conditions from the start? Gogsig makes shoes that are well thought out, flexible and adapted to the natural development of children's feet. They are constantly working to refine their products, and I wouldn't hesitate for a moment to let my own son wear Gogsig shoes.
